Kahiltna Take Off
The Kahiltna Glacier is one of the most incredible staging areas in all of Alaska. The base camp for mountains like Denali, Foraker, and Mt. Hunter the Kahiltna Camp is accessed only by aircraft, usually small fixed winged planes. Pilots generally land going up glacier and take off headed down glacier on runways that constantly need to be packed down and probed for crevasses.
In this photo a DeHaverhill Beaver is taking off while Mt. Foraker's massive flanks dominate the background. Perspective is difficult to gauge in a photo like this, the wall in the distance is over a mile away from the plane.

Mt. Hunter's Moonflower Buttress
A dominant feature on the east fork of the Kahiltna Glacier the Moonflower Buttress defines the north side of Mount Hunter. Though many of the world's best attempted to ascend the Moonflower it remained unclimbed until the 1980's. It remains one of the most formidable climbs in the Alaska Range.
This photo taken in early May depicts the rock in a fairly lean state.
